Community Change Initiative

A community-change initiative is an effort to change life for the better in a given community or among a specific population. In our particular case, our charge is to work with 15 geographically defined Des Moines neighborhoods to improve the outcomes of the children and families in those neighborhoods in these areas - preparedness for school, success and graduating from high school, employment, building personal assets, and housing.

Community-change initiatives are not new. In the last 20-30 years, several cities across the country have partnered with philanthropic organizations and other funders to affect change.
